The speed and ghosting are not as bad as reported with the correct settings (Extreme mode with full refresh every page turn). The device is great for reading color content with the xReader included and with the eInkBro browser which you can add from the Google Play Store.\n\nThe limitations: The battery life does suck in standard Android applications. If using Kobo or Kindle apps you can only expect 2 to 3 hours of batter life. In the included xReader, you can go the whole day reading a side loaded ePub.\n\nUsing the keyboard is difficult and initially entering passwords can be painful as the screen lag does interfere with typing. Letters are dropped if you type too quickly. I suspect this is because the processor is also acting as the GPU and seems underpowered to drive the screen updates with the complicated wave patterns required for color e-ink. I really like this feature because ghosting is extremely distracting when reading pages filled with pictures rather than text. The lighting works very well, allowing me to read without the glare of backlighting. Backed it on Kickstarter and was really excited. But I'm so devastated of how bad it is. \n\nSo the first problem is the ghosting. I haven't been able to remove it completely, but when i turn everything to black and white, lowest screen brightness and manually refresh everything, most disappeaer. But that is far from the worst problem, which is the battery. The battery sucks. It can't hold for more than a couple of hours at best. I've even set everything in flight mode, one hour reading in black and white takes more than 20% battery. And just letting it be in stand-by sucks it dry in less than a day. It's even worse than my phone which I use moderately over a day with more than half the battery left in the evening. \n\nThis is not close to what i expected from this e-book reader. I can't read comics on it and the battery life is terrible... I know this is a new area for e-book readers, but to be this terrible is just so sad. I didn't expect it to be as good as the ReMarkable (which is really good, by the way), but it missed every single word I wrote in my natural handwriting. Even when I just used block letters, it couldn't get all the words. It translated some of my writing into Chinese. Why would it even try that? I'm sure it was gibberish.\n\nHere's the thing, if you're going to sell these in other countries make sure they work in the languages for that country. I know that there is no official language for the USA, but most of us speak English as our first language. Not trying to sound US-centric, but I do live here and I wanted to use the device in my native language.\n\nThe reason I didn't go with the ReMarkable was because it is too locked down--but it is far more elegant in other aspects. It's this particular size and the features packaged in it that make it unique and uniquely suited to use as a field documentation tool.\nIt has the usual hiccups and irritations of all the other bigme devices.
